Good wishes to Crown Princess Mette-Marit

HRH Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway

Today the Norwegian Royal Court announced that Crown Princess Mette-Marit will be due to get lung surgery after the rapid progression of pulmonary fibrosis. This comes from her medical team at Rikshospitalelt in Oslo and evaluations for her transplant are underway.

Mette-Marit is 52 and revealed her diagnosis in 2018. Pulmonary fibrosis is not curable, and the royal workload of hers has been reduced since her diagnosis. The past six months of testing has showed negative development.

Mette-Marit told NRK: "I had really hoped that the medicine would hold this illness back for many more years... But now it has gone faster than both I and the doctors anticipated."

Mette-Marit is treated like everyone else on the lung transplant waiting list. She will be judged on medical urgency, blood type, and donor match.

Sending good wishes to The Crown Princess.
